How Cyclone Alfred played out on TikTok

It was a wild weekend with ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred deluging Southeast Queensland and northern NSW. That emergency is continuing to impact people in both states and there was wall-to-wall media coverage of events, amid strong winds and flash flooding.
Here's a snapshot of how the storm was viewed by creators on TikTok, particularly around the Gold Coast and Brisbane.
TikToker Dash Daley (followers 157.4K) used her high vantage point, in one of the most prominent towers in Surfers Paradise, to capture a video of before and after the storm, as well as a video of the building swaying (the latter of which has had more than 3M views).
@lambotrophywife Replying to @ᴋʏ well done fam we made it lol 🫣🌪️ #cyclone #cyclonealfred #cyclonegoldcoast #goldcoast #surfersparadise

Daley wasn't the only one using their high vantage point. Instagrammer and TikToker Jordan Anderson (21.3K followers) was nervously watching the crane in front of his building.

A number of people on TikTok including TradingPool (followers 251.4K) and Noah Creative (followers 562.4K), in and around the coastline, highlighted the erosion on the beaches (both videos have views in the millions).

In Brisbane, eyes were on the river and winds as Alyse Grace (followers 41,000) captured.

As the cyclone was downgraded, although there remains risks of flooding and high winds, some creators such as Anderson, Jon Wyeth (118,000 followers) and the Reese Brothers (1.3m followers) went outside and captured some of the wild weather and also how people were responding.
@jordann.aanderson My favourite type of weather… #cyclonealfred #cyclone #goldcoast

As with other major storms, around the world, there was also a group of people who managed to film themselves in the wind lipsyncing to Michael Jackson's Earth Song (for the record: we don't recommend people do this. People should follow the emergency advice and stay in doors).
@brandonkoch19 How’s cyclone Alfred treating you #cyclone #qld
