A new report puts the Australian content creator community at (a slightly staggering*) six million but only one in two of them are currently monetising their online audiences.

The FujiFilm Content Trends report 2025 authors collaborated with pollster YouGov Australia to poll 1000 Australian creators, most of whom are millennials or Gen Z, and highlighted the issues that were top of mind for creators such as brand collaborations and artificial intelligence (AI) content.

Why it matters: the report, released last week, highlighted how, despite a rapidly expanding creator economy many creators are still looking for help in how to monetise their audiences.

Some key findings included:

  • 51% of Australian creators aren’t currently earning any money from content – but would like to, with a further 27% only earning money sporadically.
  • 30% said they are had limited knowledge and understanding of business/marketing strategies to grow and build their audience.

Go Deeper: The report also highlighted the ongoing challenge around artificial intelligence (AI) content. It found:

  • 39% of content creators believe AI has made content creation more accessible (eg: editing tools, auto-captioning)
  • 39% are concerned about misinformation and its impact on how we value human creativity.

*This figure is higher than many other previous estimates of the Australian creator economy.
