Sydney Water slides in on Drake's viral moment
Drake is Down Under for his Anita Max Win Tour, and has caused a stir online with a single orange slide.
Last week, a video of the Canadian rapper throwing an orange slide at a drone that was supposedly spying on his Crown Towers penthouse went viral. Whether the original video was real or staged sparked intense speculation online, with the leading theory being that it was an ad for gambling website Stake, which Drake has partnered with since around 2022.
But whether it was real or staged the video took off, which is where Sydney Water got involved.
In an Instagram post shared via creative agency It’s Friday, a Sydney Water representative picks up an orange slide that has washed up on the shore.
The caption reads, “Hey Drake, this yours?? Hope you’re enjoying our beautiful city – but let’s keep it that way.”
The response created just as much noise as the original video, with Drake himself sharing Sydney Water's post with some cry-laughing faces to his 143 million followers.
In just two days, there were over 7 million views on Sydney Water’s account, along with over 92,000 shares, 2,000+ comments and nearly 300K likes. The post made it to the media, with news coverage from outlets like Forbes and Channel 7’s Sunrise. Brands, including Uber and Big W, have also joined in.
