YouTube Premium Lite tier coming to Australia

YouTube is releasing a lower-priced version of its ad-free paid video tier. Dubbed YouTube Premium Lite, Bloomberg reports that the new package will be rolled out in the Australian, US, Thai and German markets soon.
The Lite plan does not include ad-free YouTube Music, but will mean that subscribers can access regular YouTube without ads.
Whilst pricing for the new tier has not been completely confirmed, the platform will likely cost Australians $8.99 AUD per month on the web, or $11.99 AUD on iOS.
Why It Matters: Speaking to what the new tier would offer, Google said in a statement: "As part of our commitment to provide our users with more choice and flexibility, we’ve been testing a new YouTube Premium offering with most videos ad-free in several of our markets."
"We’re hoping to expand this offering to even more users in the future with our partners’ support."
